Audience-Purpose-Occasion
Product Data Sheets (PDS) describe our products: what they are, how to use them, their physical properties, and more. They are essential for customers who specify our products for use on a project, and for personnel in the field who apply them at construction sites. They are hard technical documents, written for technical personnel.
Notes
Application: Microsoft Word. Typeface: Arial.
I adapted a template used worldwide by Hempel for the current Neogard PDS. I modified it with the Neogard logo, colors, and with data formatted for the U.S./North American market. I also created a limited set of paragraph styles for each area in the PDS. Hempel is moving away from this template, but the Neogard brand will be using it for the foreseeable future.
I like this template. It’s clean, clear, easy to read, and gives the customer critical data. I converted all our PDS to this new format earlier this year. Click the image below for a sample; it’s for FC7500/FC7960, one of our most popular products.

Previous PDS Design
The old PDS were created in Adobe InDesign. My predecessors created the format in the mid-2000s; I updated our templates in 2015 with paragraph styles, table styles, and master pages for ease of use and consistency. I have included an example from 2016, which uses the 2015 template update.
